My Photography

I started really getting into photography sometime in 2007. I had a little point & shoot camera (a Konica Minolta Dimage G600) and decided it was time to upgrade to a digital SLR.
After a lot of research, I chose the Olympus E-500. It’s been a great camera and I’ve greatly enjoyed having it. I would recommend it to anyone looking to get a digital SLR. The only downside I’ve noticed is that lenses seem a little rarer/more expensive than the equivalent for cameras like Nikons or Canons.

My main motivation for upgrading was to further my interest in equine photography. I decided to add it into my preexisting web and graphic design business, and so far I’ve been very pleased with the response.
I started by going to a couple small shows and doing candid photography in the warm-up area. I went around and introduced myself and handed out business cards. Some exhibitors happened to be on the show committee for another show, for which they asked me to be the center ring photographer. That was a great experience and a lot of fun.
I’ve also been contacted to do photo shoots for people and their horses, as well as to give a speech on equine photography and an equine education event. It’s been an interesting ride and I hope it continues to be!
